Bret is a business owner and entreprenuer. His journey is pretty neat. Let me share it with you.
Bret grew up poor. Living in subsidized apartments, lunch tickets, etc... Luckily, as he says, he grew up in an area with a lot of well to do people. So in his high school years he observed what made the difference between their financial lives and decided that he would go to college and some day own his own business.
So after graduating college and meeting the woman of his dreams they set out on their journey. During college Bret had created a list of thing he felt he needed to know in order to one day own his own business and be successful. In order to learn these things he felt the best place to start was working for national or regional companies as Bret didn't have any mentors to learn from. During this journey he took jobs specifically to acquire a skill set and learn more about running a successful business. He did everything from Sales, Marketing, Advertisement, Operations, Service, etc... And had some wonderfull successes.
A couple of his highlights. In 2003 he was hired to run the corporate owned Culligan business in Las Vegas. The prior year they had lost hundreds of thousands of dollars. One year later they were in the positive. The next year they won a Presidential Award meaning they were in the top 10. And the final year they won the Emmtt J Culligan Award meaing they were the best in all North America.
With Rollins Leasing he took his office from dead last in the company to rank 56 in one year.
While working for American Residential Services he took a facility that made a little over $300k the prior year to making over $300k in just one month.
Finally, after learing everything he thought he needed too. And saving what he thought was enough money. He quit is final high paying job, moved back home, and bought his first solely owned business. He took that business and grew it by 350% over four years during one of the worst recession his generation had ever seen. And he did it in the Home Services/construction industry which was one of the worst hit by this recession. After growing this business to a predetemined amount he sold it so that he could move onto his next adventure.
Bret purchased Oozle Media. This appears to be a big jump for most. But for Bret, it is just another business that falls within the businss models he understands. He also understand this business from a client perspective as he worked with a few Digital Marketing companies during the past eigth years. He became pretty adept in Digital Marketing to the point where 67% of his calls for his Home Services company came from this sources. And as long as he has smart knowledgeable people working with him that know the specifics of the industry, he can lead this business in the right direction. He feels he brings a unique perspective to Oozle by taking on the role of their clients owners when creating strategies, reveiwing results, and developing road maps.
Bret's plan for Oozle is to develope it into a niche specific powerhouse Digital Marketing company. He wants it to be big enough that they have the right people to be awesome at what they do but will be selective in the clients they accept so they can use their industry specific knowledge to create good results for the clients.
He truly believes he can only succeed if first his clients succeed.
